The theme was "Do you prefer mountains or seaside for summer vacation? Any plans for this summer?"

Opinions from “Mountain” people…

◆ I’m fond of mountains, because seaside is humid and steamy.
◆ Mountains provides fresh air to my stressful life
◆ I’m originally from mountainous area so living in the Netherlands makes me miss mountains.

The comments were all very convincing and thoughtful.

On the other side, “Seaside” people said…

◆ Summer means ‘Beach’ to me.
◆ You cannot reach the bottom of the sea, which gives me an idea that there is another universe.

A big news from a Dutch member.
She is very fluent in Japanese, and is one of the oldest member of all time.
She’s a singer and being very active around the Netherlands, and now she’s moving to Japan to become a singer in Japan!
We wish her the best luck!! Ganbatte!

Non-Japanese members have varieties of background with Japanese language: Some are fluent, some are not. But they are equally very much interested in Japanese culture and language. They study Japanese very hard in their spare time.

It is such a precious and wonderful experience to meet those people at place like the Netherlands, which is far away from Japan. We really appreciate those who come to meet us and talk with us in Japanese.

The next Japanese conversation is on Friday 7th September (July and August are closed for Summer holiday).

The door is open from 10:15.
The conversation session is from 10:30 to 12:30.
The cost of a beverage is around €2,00. Cash only.

If you are studying Japanese and want to practice speaking skills, this is a great opportunity for you.

Don't worry about making mistakes. It's not a class.
Please feel free to contact us by email.

It was an Open day for Japanese people.

Today’s theme was "Do you use SNS? Which apps do you use? and Why?."

There are many SNS apps including Facebook, Twitter, LINE, What’sApp, etc, and although many of us are worried about privacy issues, it would be difficult to live without those apps in the life we live now.

Some members have multiple accounts on one app, and others are using different apps according to his/her life style.

The reasons for using SNS are…

◆ Outsourcing information about his/her business
◆ To connect to families and friends living apart
◆ Source of getting information about events and shops in the neibourhood

SNS is very handy and almost a necessity to some people, but also protecting privacy by him/herself is an important element when using SNS.

How much do I go open about myself? Will I risk myself by doing this? Members seem to be aware of the demerit of using SNS and using them wisely.

It was a hot sunny day with temperature 26C.

We were worried that many people would be gone to beaches, but there was a waiting que before starting time.

In total more than 300 people (plus children) came to the bazaar.

We (JWC) had "Rommelmarkt" tables with 2 other groups, selling used items.

All members brought in items including books, children's clothes, plates, cups, kitchen items, etc.... We couldn't display all items at once.

Some JWC members baked delicious cakes and cookies.

As you may know, the first hour is always a little too crowded....

But crowd gradually faded away and we believe people enjoyed shopping most of the hours.

One customer was wearing self-made Japanese traditional style straw sandals!!

Japanese potteries are always very popular.

There were scenes where non-JP people ask how to use the items, before buying Japanese potteries.

Upstairs and outside were spaces for professional shops. Starting from Sushi, there were stalls selling Japanese sake, second hand Kimono (dress), Sashiko sawing kit, which was just so interesting to window shop.

Thank you very much, for those who came by. It was really nice to see you all!!

Dear all,

Are you enjoying the warm weather? Have you got sun-screen cream? Hat? Beach dress? Sunglasses?

Well, the best part of this season is that because of the long day light, you can go out and enjoy outdoor activities after work.

We'd like to remind you that the next Nihongo-kaiwa is on Friday, 1st June.

The topic of the conversation is "Do you use SNS? Which apps do you use? and Why?."

If you are wondering what SNS is, please refer to the link below.
At the bottom of the page, you'll find large SNS services.

The door is open from 10:15.

The conversation session is from 10:30 to 12:30.

The cost of a beverage is around €2,00. Cash only.

Please try to be on time!
