The wind blows hard or it rains for several days in a row in mid-March in The Netherlands.
How have you been doing?

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t so lovely, so fewer members participated in the session than usual, but the people in a smaller group also enjoyed the conversations as usual.

Today’s topic was about ‘ Shopping’.
Nowadays,‘ Online-shopping ‘ is a part of our everyday life.
Most of the participants make use of ‘ online-shopping’ as well.

The young members in their 20’ s and 30’ s said;

“ I buy my favourite Japanese artists goods and Character goods online.”

“ It’s nice to get cute Japanese clothes online because it’s impossible to buy in The Netherlands.”

“ I read weekly manga comics online.’

They make good use of online -shopping to buy Japanese related goods or things!

The other said;

“I bought the Japanese philosopher’s book written in German by using the German online shop.”

It is awesome!

“I managed to get the famous brand’s pan online which was about 50 euro cheaper than one at a shop.”

Good job!!

“ I always buy large furniture online even if the shop is closed by because it is delivered.”

Great idea!

Even if you don’t actually go to the countries where you can buy the things, you are able to get the ones you want online. They also compare the prices and convenience and eventually choose the better way to buy what they want.

On the other hand, they still directly buy food at shops.

The delivery trucks of the popular supermarket chain are often seen at streets, but people tend to go to shops and choose fresh ones directly.

Most of the members often buy books online but one member said;

“ I buy books at bookshops because I may come across wonderful books there.”

How fantastic it is!

Today’s impressive comments were from the member who used to write the blog about ‘online-shopping’.She has a lot of ideas about how to make good use of it.

We hope that we can have other chances to talk to her even further about it.

Everyone makes use of online-shopping more than expected.

Time went by so fast while worrying about the shop sales in the neighborhood!

It was still drizzling after the session but the extraordinary Dutch spring was just around the corner.

Next Nihongokaiwa session will be on the 5 th April.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Dear all,

It was a very wet and windy weekend for many of us. I hope flowers are still alive, and you all had a good weekend.

We'd like to remind you that the next Nihongo-kaiwa is on Friday, 15th March.

The topic of the conversation is "How do you make use of online-shopping and shopping directly at shops?"

What kind of items do you buy online? Is there a new way of shop, compared with analog days?

Any other topics are also welcome.

The door is open from 10:15.
The conversation session is from 10:30 to 12:30.
The cost of a beverage is around €2,00. Cash only.
Please try to be on time!

Hope to see you!

There has been a huge difference between the cold days and the warm days recently.

It seems like we skipped spring and went straight to early summer in The Netherlands.

The unusual warmth may cause you to have some health issues.

How have you been doing?

Not only in Japan, ‘ hey fever’ ( hooikoorts in Dutch) is commonly spreading here as well.

You could see the medications related to the hey fever at this time of the year.

It might be very important to know how to spend cold days on appropriate ways for keeping yourself healthy during a year around.

Today’s topic was “ My routine on a cold day “.
JPMar32019.jpg

For those who are sensitive to cold, how to keep themselves warm is sort of their assignment in winter.

One JWC member who struggled with the matter said:

“ I use a hot cherry pit pillow and wrap to keep me warm. You can use it repeatedly.
Hot water bottles for my bed are also useful!”

She knows very well how to handle with the problems.

The other said:

“ I have a hot meal such as Sukiyaki, soup and so on.”

“ Trying to have a cup of tea.”

“ I don’t have chilled water, always have room temperature water.”

Most of them are cautious about what they eat and drink.
Hippocrates once said food is medicine!

The most impressive comment was:

“ I don’t really like the cold and dark winter days because I tend to be lazy, so deliberately try to have the same routine as summer. Then I feel so active as I am in summer even if it’s winter.”

Good idea!!

It’s easy, but great for us to add such routines to our daily lives.

Today’s participants were various and international when it came to their backgrounds such as China,Taiwan,Vietnam, the UK, the NL ,Japan and more.

As usual, not only Today’s topic, we also talked about delicious Vietnamese food , Taiwanese food ,Funny Christmas clothes in the UK and even more.

Next Nihongokaiwa session will be on the 15 th March.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

On Saturday the 16 th March, JWC organaises ‘ the Origami workshop’at Amstelveen Library.

Any other topics are also welcome.

The door is open from 10:15.
The conversation session is from 10:30 to 12:30.

JPOpendayfeb15.jpg

It was a bright ,sunny morning. Spring was almost around the corner.

The session was ‘ Open Day’ which we regularly organised the special day in order to introduce our JWC activities to people who are interested in.

JPOpendayfeb15(1).jpg

We were ready a bit earlier than usual and waited for them to come.
As soon as it was time to start, 29 people came to the place and started chatting.
We were so happy to have such a lot of participants for the day.
JPOpendayfeb15(2).jpg

The day’s topic was ‘ What are your favourite traveling styles?’.

The spring holiday was the following week in Amstelveen area and the holiday seasons such as Easter, the accession and more were upon us, so most people might have plans for them.

‘ I went to Keukenhof Gardens a day after I had first arrived in The Netherlands. It was memorable.’

‘ When I lived in Japan for a year, I visited a lot of places.’

‘ Online booking applications are now my favorites.’

‘ I really like visiting ‘ the power spots’ such as shrines. Is there anywhere like that here in Europe?’

‘ It was nice to visit London, flying with the budget airline. It sometimes costs about 20 euro, if you are lucky enough!’

Most of the participants frequently travel, so they have a lot of experiences and seem to enjoy doing on their own styles.
Not only chatting about traveling, we were also excited to talk about other topics.

Such as stories about sweets,

‘ I made ‘ the strawberry mille-feuille ,type of pastry’ for the first time in three years. I was happy because it was very tasty.’

‘ I made ‘ the brownies.’ My best receipt is that bread flour ◯◯ gram, sugar ◯◯gram, etc.’

Or ‘ I had an interview with the Japanese movie director and wrote the article about him and his movies.’

How interesting it was.

We were grad to see the people who joined us for the first time or the ones after some time and grateful to the regular members as well.

Thank you very much for joining us!

Even after the session, some had lunch together or went to Friday market together to continue conversations in Japanese on Friday afternoon in early spring.

Next Nihongo-kaiwa session will be on the 1st March.

If you are interested in joining our sessions, don’t hesitate to contact us by sending e-mail.
